Preschoolers Curriculums

“Our preschoolers curriculums foster early learning, creativity, and social skills, preparing young minds for future academic success through engaging and age-appropriate activities.

Both the Reggio Emilia approach and Waldorf Steiner method emphasize child-centered, experiential learning. Here’s a weekly schedule for preschoolers that integrates key aspects of these approaches:

Weekly Curriculum for Preschoolers (Ages 3-5)

Theme of the Week: “Exploring Nature”

 Core Elements
– Reggio Emilia: Child-led exploration, documentation, project-based learning.
– Waldorf Steiner: Rhythmic structure, creativity through arts, nature-based activities, imaginative play.

Theme: Introduction to Nature through Senses

Time:- 8:30 – 9:00 AM Welcome & Free Play,  
Children freely explore the space with natural materials (leaves, shells, wooden blocks) to ease into the day.

Time:- 9:00 – 9:15 AM Morning Circle Time,
Songs, greetings, and storytelling. Introduce the weekly theme: “How does nature feel?” Begin with a simple sensory activity like touching different textures (tree bark, sand, water).

Time:- 9:15 – 10:00 AM Outdoor Exploration (Reggio Emilia),
Take the children outside to explore the garden or a nearby park. Let them lead the exploration and collect objects (leaves, rocks, flowers). Observe how they interact with the environment.

Time:- 10:00 – 10:30 AM Snack Time,
Organic, seasonal snacks.

Time:- 10:30 – 11:30 AM Creative Expression (Art) (Waldorf),
Using natural materials, children create art (leaf prints, rock painting). Focus on the process, not the product. Encourage imagination.

Time:- 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM Storytelling & Imaginative Play,
Teachers narrate a nature-themed story, then children reenact it using puppets or role-playing, blending in Waldorf’s focus on storytelling and imagination.

Time:- 12:00 – 12:30 PM Lunch

Time:- 12:30 – 1:30 PM Rest Time

Time:- 1:30 – 2:30 PM Project Time (Reggio Emilia),
Children begin to develop a group project based on their nature observations. They document (through drawings or photos) what they found outside and start brainstorming ideas for the project.

Theme: Exploring Plants

Time:- 8:30 – 9:00 AM Welcome & Free Play,  

Time:- 9:00 – 9:15 AM Morning Circle Time,
Singing nature songs, recap of yesterday’s exploration. Introduce today’s focus: “What do plants need to grow?”

Time:- 9:15 – 10:00 AM Gardening Activity,
Children plant seeds in small pots. Emphasize hands-on experience, observing soil, water, and sunlight (Reggio-inspired).

Time:- 10:00 – 10:30 AM Snack Time

Time:- 10:30 – 11:30 AM Watercolor Painting (Waldorf),
Children paint freely using watercolors. Teachers encourage abstract, flowing images to nurture creativity

Time:- 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM Nature-based Storytelling,
Read or tell a nature story focusing on the growth of a plant.

Time:- 12:00 – 12:30 PM Lunch

Time:- 12:30 – 1:30 PM Rest Time

Time:- 1:30 – 2:30 PM Project Time (Reggio Emilia),
Children return to their group project, documenting the plant growth and creating drawings or sculptures to express their ideas.

Theme: Animal Exploration

Time:- 8:30 – 9:00 AM Welcome & Free Play,  

Time:- 9:00 – 9:15 AM Morning Circle Time,
Recap of previous days, introduce today’s theme: “What animals live in nature?”

Time:- 9:15 – 10:00 AM Animal Discovery Walk,
Children go outside to look for insects, birds, or other small creatures. Teachers encourage curiosity and observation.

Time:- 10:00 – 10:30 AM Snack Time,

Time:- 10:30 – 11:30 AM Handcrafting Animals (Waldorf),
Using wool, clay, or natural materials, children create their own animals. Focus on tactile, hands-on work.

Time:- 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM Animal Storytelling & Movement,
Children listen to a story about animals, then act it out, moving like the animals from the story.

Time:- 12:00 – 12:30 PM Lunch

Time:- 12:30 – 1:30 PM Rest Time

The children add their animal creations or observations to the ongoing group project. They discuss what they’ve learned and document their findings.

Theme: The Elements: Water, Air, Earth, Fire

Time:- 8:30 – 9:00 AM Welcome & Free Play,  

Time:- 9:00 – 9:15 AM Morning Circle Time,
Introduce the theme “What are the elements in nature?” through song and discussion.

Time:- 9:15 – 10:00 AM Water Play Exploration (Reggio),
Set up stations where children can explore water, wind (using fans or gentle breezes), and earth (sand or soil). Encourage experimentation and observation.

Time:- 10:00 – 10:30 AM Snack Time

Time:- 10:30 – 11:30 AM Elemental Art & Craft (Waldorf),  
Children make crafts inspired by the elements (e.g., wind chimes, sand art).

Time:- 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM Storytelling: Elemental Tales,
A story about the four elements, incorporating vivid imagery and dramatic narration.

Time:- 12:00 – 12:30 PM Lunch

Time:- 12:30 – 1:30 PM Rest Time

Incorporate the element exploration into the ongoing project. Children reflect on what elements they encountered and how these connect to the natural world.

Time:- 9:00 – 9:15 AM Morning Circle Time,
Recap of the week, discussing highlights. What did the children enjoy most? What did they learn?

Time:- 9:15 – 10:00 AM Group Project Presentation,
Children showcase the project they’ve worked on throughout the week. It could be an art display, a short skit, or a storytelling session. Emphasize collaboration and self-expression.

Time:- 10:00 – 10:30 AM Snack Time

Time:- 10:30 – 11:30 AM Celebration through Music & Movement (Waldorf), 
A celebratory movement session where children sing, dance, and express their creativity. This session reflects the rhythmic, musical emphasis of Waldorf education.

Time:- 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM Closing Story & Reflections,
Teachers lead a reflection circle, where children can talk about their favorite parts of the week. End with a story that ties the week’s learning together.

Children have time for free play, allowing them to use their imagination and reflect on the week’s activities.
